Pastor Jim Lanning will be serving as a volunteer Chaplain for the Sheriff’s Office.  Pastor Lanning has served for the last seven years as Pastor with the New Albany, Ohio Police Department and he will now be available to assist local officers in the performance of their duties.  He is certified by the International Conference of Police Chaplains and has been trained in the areas of response to major crisis situations, notification of and assistance with family members involving the occurrence of a fatality or serious injury, various ceremonial duties and any situation where the counsel, intervention or support may be needed. 

Pastor Lanning is a graduate of Muskingum College and has a Master of Ministry degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  He also has a master’s degree in Pastoral counseling and has received advanced training through the Ohio Police Officer’s Training Academy as well as additional training as a First Responder in Terrorism and Disaster situations though the Ohio Air National Guard. 

Pastor Lanning is Pastor of The Plains-Athens Community Church of the Nazarene and recently moved to Logan with is wife, Esther.
